On April 9, 2009, the Pirin Folk Ensemble gave a concert in Hall 1 of the UNESCO Headquarters, dedicated to the Bulgarian intangible cultural heritage. The concert was organised by the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Bulgaria to UNESCO and was held under the auspices of Ambassador Irina Bokova and of Mr Koïchiro Matsuura, Director-General of UNESCO. On February 23, 2009, the Juan Miro Hall at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris saw the opening of the exhibition Bulgaria’s Letters – Alphabet of Europe. On 19 December 2008, Bulgarian Ambassador to France, Mrs Irina Bokova, was awarded the highest distinction of the Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers, the Golden Lyre, for her contribution to the promotion of Bulgarian music and performing arts in France. (more…)
On December 2, 2008 a documentary exhibition entitled “Condamnés et Rescapés” (Condemned and Rescued) and dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews from the death camps, opened at the UNESCO House in Paris. The exhibition was held under the auspices of Bulgarian Ambassador to France and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to UNESCO, Mrs Irina Bokova, and Director-General of UNESCO, Mr Koïchiro Matsuura.
